Capital Bank branch officer booked for embezzling Rs 82.51 Lakhs

PHAGWARA: The Nakodar Sadar police have booked a Capital Bank branch officer on the charge of embezzling Rs 82, 51 Lakhs of the bank. S.P.(D) Mukhtiar Rai said that the accused has been identified as Abhishekh Khanna a resident of Ajit Avenue, Kapurthala.

Harinder Singh a resident of Bombe Nagar Jalandhar complained to the Police that he is deputy HDO Operation Risk Department, Capital Small Finance Bank Jalandhar.

He said in his complaint that the accused Abhishek Khanna was working as an Executive Teller at the Bank branch Uggi and was responsible for replenishing cash in the ATM since August 2021.

Harinder Singh said that while checking it was found that the accused Khanna misappropriated Rs 82, 51Lakhs of the Bank made false entries in the Core Banking System committed fraud and demanded legal action against him.

SP said after an inquiry the police registered a case against an erring bank officer.

He said that a case under sections 406(breach of trust) 409(criminal breach of trust by a person in a business capacity) and 420(cheating) of the IPC have been registered against the accused adding that the incident occurred in the past therefore case is registered under IPC.
