13 year old boy succumbs to injuries in explosion in Phagwara house

PHAGWARA: Pall of Gloom descended in Pipa Rangi locality Phagwara after receiving the death of a young minor boy Ashish(13) who succumbed to his burn injuries in Guru Nanak Dev Hospital Amritsar late last night)caused by a powerful explosion in Sham Nagar Phagwara on Dussehra Day Saturday.

When This Correspondent visited the house of the deceased Aman on Sunday Evening, hue and cry was witnessed among the family members and neighbors.

Rudra Parshad a native of Bihar who came from Bihar after getting the news of mishap , was seen in deep shock.

The entire family and neighbors were waiting for the body being brought from Amritsar but delayed due to blockades of farmers today as funeral could be done only on Monday due to Sun Set.The condition of the other child Aman(14) was said to be critical due to injuries in private parts.

This Correspondent observed that despite a big tragedy neither the cops have initiated any action to register FIR nor any cop tried to find out about the illegal selling of the crackers/explosives. Despite repeated attempts none of the cop could be available to talk about the matter.

It may be mentioned here thatTwo minor boys sustained critical injuries caused by a powerful explosion on the rooftop of a house near Shivpuri in Sham Nagar, Phagwara on Dushehra day Saturday..

the preliminary reports said the explosion occurred due to filling the potassium, a chemical commonly used in firecrackers in pipes to burst crackers.

The Police said the materials of potassium involving a metal rod were recovered from the scene. The potassium and other items were also seized for further examination. The police suspect the explosion occurred while the children were grinding potash.

a detailed investigation was in progress and the exact cause would be determined once all evidence was examined. It was learnt that some suspicious materials from the site have been seized for further analysis.

The police said the tragic incident raised serious questions about how such young children gained access to such dangerous substances. They said the possibility of illegal firecracker manufacturing or storage also warrants thorough investigation
