AMRITSAR: Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) today appointed noted academician and scholar of Punjabi Studies, Dr. Atam Singh Randhawa as new Principal of historic Khalsa College. He joined the duty in presence of top KCGC top authorities including honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and other office bearers.
A Ph.D and Master in Punjabi, Dr. Randhawa has more than 25 years of experience in teaching.
He has been working as Associate Professor and Head, Department of Punjabi Studies at Khalsa College for the last many years. He has to his credit more than 200 publications and research papers. He was selected for the post following a rigorous interview process as per laid norms, said KCGC officials.
After joining the office, he thanked the KCGC management including President Satayajit Singh Majithia and RMS Chhina for imposing faith in him to serve the 1892-established, more than 132 years old College and promised to be up to their expectation. Dr.Arvinder Kaur Kahlon, Officiating Principal who is senior most faculty at the College, also welcomed the new Principal.
Chhina while welcoming Dr. Randhawa said that they have high hopes from him as he has vast experience in teaching and running the affairs of the College administration.
“He is a well known name in the field of Punjabi studies and was instrumental in helping to organize various mega events in the College including G-20 and international litrary festivals and book fairs.”, said he adding that they hope he would devote whole energy for the progress and expansion of this vast and historic institution.
