AMRITSAR: Department of Education of Guru Nanak Dev University organized an expert talk to explore the universeand to develop the scientific temper and attitude among the teacher educators of the department under the able guidance and scientific vision of Prof (Dr) Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University.
Prof (Dr) Amit kauts, Head, Department of Education and Prof (Dr) Deepa Sikand, Dean, Faculty of Education presided over the function. Prof (Dr) Amit kauts welcomed the guest of the event Mr. Rishab Nakra, he is a Science Communicator and Admin and Founder of “The Secrets of the Universe”, a prominent social media platform and you tube channel that has captivated the minds of over 6 million followers worldwide. He is analumnus of this university also. His main aim is to bridge that gap between complex scientific concepts and the general public, making science accessible and engaging to millions. He presented a documentary on “Journey to the Edge of the Universe at the Speed of the Light”. The documentary highlighted the heartbreaking journey through the cosmos, travelling at the speed of light to explore the wonders of the universe. Starting from the solar system, and visiting each planet, marveling their unique characteristics and the mysteries they hold through this documentary. Students of the department explored the vastness of space filled with countless galaxies, each a bustling metropolis of stars, planets, and cosmic phenomena.
Prof (Dr) Amit kauts in his concluding remarks hoped that this celebration will inspire students of the department to reach and pursue their dreams in the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Such activities help the students of the department for gaining a deeper appreciation for the vastness of the cosmos and the ongoing quest to uncover its secrets. He correlates the science with our daily life.While the idea of travelling to the edge of the universe is captivating, the practical and theoretical challenges make it an essentially unrealizable endeavor with today’s scientific and technological capabilities. The main goal of the programme is to inspire, educate, and foster a deeper understanding of the universe we inhabit.All the faculty members and students across all the academic programmes of the department of education has participated in the event.
