CDOE Hosts One-Day Workshop on Resume Writing and Interview Skills

CHANDIGARH: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the District Bureau of Employment Exchange (DBEE), Mohali, today hosted a transformative one-day workshop on "Resume Writing and Interview Skills". The event aimed at equipping distant learners with essential skills for career advancement. Dr. Ravinder Kaur, Coordinator of the Placement Cell at CDOE, introduced the concept note, emphasising the workshop’s relevance in bridging skill gaps.

More than 150 students participated, engaging actively with the resource persons to address their queries. The workshop covered critical aspects of resume writing, including purpose, presentation, precision, proofreading, and personalization. It also provided practical guidance on interview preparation, effective communication, active listening, and tackling challenging questions with confidence.

Ms. Anita Budhiraja, Joint Director at the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology and an esteemed alumna of Panjab University, shared actionable strategies for crafting impactful resumes, stressing customisation and effective keyword usage. She also provided insights into government schemes for skill development and entrepreneurship.

Sukhamani Bath, Deputy CEO of DBEE Mohali, highlighted placement drives, loan schemes, and support initiatives for start-ups in agriculture and horticulture. She encouraged students to explore innovative career paths and leverage available resources.

Earlier, Prof. Harsh Gandhar, Director of CDOE, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the Centre’s commitment to student placement. Prof. Meena Sharma, Honorary Director of the Central Placement Cell of the University, underscored the importance of domain knowledge, career clarity, and aligning candidates’ skills with job requirements.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mritunjay Kumar, recognising the collaborative efforts behind its success, while Dr. Kamla Sandhu skillfully moderated the session.

The workshop stands as a testament to CDOE’s commitment to empowering its learners with tools for professional growth, making a significant impact in enhancing employability among distant learners.
