CHANDIGARH: In swift political developments in Haryana, the BJP today replaced Manohar Lal Khattar and appointed Naib Saini as new Chief Minister. The controversial home minister Anil Viz is also shown the door.
Naib Saini took oath of office today evening at Haryana Raj Bhawan. Governor Bandaru Dattatreya administered the oath to Saini and cabinet ministers.Kanwar Pal Gujjar, Mool Chand Sharma, Banwari Lal, Ranjit Singh Chautala, and Jai Parkash Dalal took oath as cabinet ministers.
Saini was elected leader of the BJP legislature party following the resignation of the Chief Minister for nine years Manohar Lal Khattar.
This also marks the end of BJP and former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Singh Chautala-led-JJP alliance.
Khattar and his cabinet ministers on Tuesday submitted their resignations to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and the development came amid speculation of cracks emerging in the state`s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) coalition over seat sharing ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The change has become due to high anti-incumbency against Khattar and his team. BJP was worried about party's performance in Lok Sabha polls. Khattar and Viz were also held responsible for mishandling the farmer's agitation.
