Major Drug Bust in Himachal Pradesh: Police District Nurpur Takes Down Liquor Smuggling Operation

DHARAMSALA: In a significant blow to the drug mafia, the Police District Nurpur, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Ashok Ratan, has made a major breakthrough in the fight against illegal drug trade. During a routine blockade at Muqaam Dehri Chowk, the police successfully intercepted a vehicle carrying a large consignment of illicit liquor.

The vehicle, a Tata Tiago (HP-88-4934), was found to be transporting 300 bottles (equivalent to 225, 000 ml) of country liquor concealed within 25 boxes. The occupants of the vehicle, identified as Mukesh Kumar alias Billa and Des Raj, both residents of Chhatar Tehsil, Fatehpur, District Kangra, were immediately taken into custody.

The accused have been charged under Section 39(1) of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act, and further legal proceedings are underway. This operation is part of an ongoing campaign by the Nurpur Police to combat the illegal drug trade in the region.

Superintendent Ashok Ratan affirmed that the District Police's efforts to dismantle drug networks will continue with full force. The public is encouraged to support the police in their mission to make Nurpur a drug-free zone.
