DHARAMSALA: In a significant stride towards combating the drug menace, the Nurpur Police District, under the leadership of SP Ashok Rattan, has launched an extensive campaign against drug trafficking. On the evening of Sunday, the police, acting on confidential information, targeted a residence in Surajpur Tehsil, Indora District, Kangra.
The home, belonging to Rakeshwar Singh, son of Yog Raj, became the focal point of a major operation that led to the confiscation of 82 cans of spirit, each holding 40 liters, totaling a substantial 3280 liters of the substance.
In addition to the spirit, authorities also seized cash amounting to Rs 9, 09, 450 from Singh’s possession. Following the successful raid, Singh was arrested, and a case (67/24 dated 07/04/24) under section 39(1) of the H.P. Excise Act was registered at the Damtal police station against him.
SP Rattan emphasized that this operation is a part of a broader initiative by the Nurpur District Police to eradicate the illegal drug trade. He assured that efforts to combat drug trafficking in the area would persist, showcasing the department’s commitment to maintaining law and order and safeguarding the community from the harms of illegal substances.
