Action Taken Against Four Senior Trainee Doctors in Tanda medical college Ragging Case

DHARAMSHALA: A serious case of ragging has surfaced at Tanda Medical College and Hospital (TMC) in Kangra. According to reports, the incident occurred a week ago, but the college administration has only recently taken stringent action against the culprits. Four senior trainee doctors have been expelled from classes and fined for their involvement in ragging a junior.

The incident took place on the evening of Wednesday, June 5, when junior trainee MBBS doctors were called to room number 108 of the Boys Hostel by senior trainees and subsequently abused and beaten. Following this, the victimized students lodged a complaint with the National Medical Commission.

TMC Principal Dr. Milap Sharma confirmed the incident and stated that the Anti-Ragging Committee of Tanda Medical College conducted an investigation, which found four senior trainee doctors from the 2019 and 2022 batches guilty. Based on the preliminary investigation report, the college management has taken the actions against the students namely Arun Sood (MBBS Batch-2019), Siddhant Yadav (MBBS Batch-2019), Ragvendra Bhardwaj (MBBS Batch-2022) and Bhavani Shankar (MBBS Batch-2022).

Dr. Milap Sharma confirmed that Arun Sood and Siddhant Yadav have been expelled for one year each and fined Rs 1 lakh each, while Ragvendra Bhardwaj and Bhavani Shankar have been expelled for six months and fined Rs 50, 000 each. The fines must be paid within seven days.

Dr. Sharma emphasized that the college administration and the Anti-Ragging Committee are vigilant in preventing such incidents and urged students to report any occurrences of ragging immediately. He reiterated the college's commitment to taking strict action against those involved in such activities.
