Transgender Mohini Mahant honored on Republic Day

AMRITSAR: Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Shakshi Sahni, the district administration took another unique initiative and on the occasion of Republic Day, transgender Mohini Mahant was specially honored for his work for the welfare of transgenders.

In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner said that Mohini Mahant, a transgender of Mansa Federation Welfare Society, has started special works for the welfare of transgenders. She said that Mohini Mahant has started self-help groups for transgenders , vocational training as well as awareness campaign regarding HIV.

The Deputy Commissioner said that Mohini Mahant has established a 25-bed shelter home for transgenders and a support clinic is also being run for their treatment.

Mohini Mahant said that our society is working on a large scale to solve the problems of transgenders.

She said that Aadhar cards , voter cards and PAN cards are also being made for transgenders.

On this occasion, Secretary Red Cross Society Mr. Samson Masih said that under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Red Cross is always ready to help transgenders and the problems they face are resolved immediately.

She said that awareness camps are also being organized by Mansa Federation Welfare Society to make transgenders aware.
