Toll Tax at Ladhuwal increase from April 1

PHAGWARA: National Highways Authorities of India have announced to increase toll tax at all Toll Plazas of Highways from Tuesday ie April 1.

According to increase Travelling from Phillaur to Ludhiana in your own car will burn a hole in your pocket .
Confirming this, manager of the Toll Plaza Ladhowal Deepender Kumar said every car owner would now have to shell out Rs 230 for a single journey and Rs 345 for multiple journey to travel a distance of merely 12 km from Phillaur to Ludhiana.

Light vehicle owners will pay Rs 370 for single journey and Rs 555for multiple journey .Three Axels commercial vehicles will pay Rs 845 for single journey and Rs 1265 for multiple journey.

He said bus and truck drivers would have to pay Rs 775 for single journey and Rs 1160 for multiple journey while more heavy vehicles would have to pay Rs 1215for single journey and Rs 1820for multiple journey .Depender said that oversized vehicle drivers would have to pay Rs 1475 for single journey and Rs 2215 for multiple journey.

He said only necessary increases had been made, which was an annual exercise. He said monthly pass for the vehicle owners residing within 20 km of radius will now be available for Rs 350/- monthly.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal, Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, Dr Navjot Singh Dahia, AAP leader Joginder Singh Maan and Parminder Mehta have opposed the increase in tollrates. They said the government or private companies should provide better roads with good infrastructure. The leaders said the increase would affect short-distance travellers. They urged the government to review its toll-revision policy in the interests of short-distance travellers.
