AMRITSAR: The Diocese of Amritsar (DoA), Church of North India (CNI), is all set to celebrate Palm Sunday, marking the triumphal entry of Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem ahead of His Crucifixion on Good Friday. Under the guidance of Rt Rev Manoj Charan, Moderator's Episcopal Commissary, Church of North India, the Majha Sevak Sangh (MSS) of the Diocese of Amritsar, CNI, held a meeting to finalize preparations for the celebrations.
Bishop Manoj Charan emphasized the significance of Palm Sunday, saying, “As we celebrate Palm Sunday, we remember the humble entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, marking the beginning of His journey to the cross. May this occasion remind us of the true meaning of humility, sacrifice, and love.”
Sharing the details, Mr Daniel B Das, Convenor, Palm Sunday Procession, said that enthusiasm was palpable among the Christians in the rural areas under the purview of the diocese. “Congregations from Ajnala, Attari, Khem Karan areas, and Batala are expected to participate in the Palm Sunday Peace Procession in large numbers, while representatives of Churches and institutions of the diocese in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, are also likely to be present, ” he said.
The meeting, attended by the clergy and officials of the diocese, focused on finalizing the route plan for the Palm Sunday Peace Procession, arrangements for stalls, and participation. An information poster for Palm Sunday 2025 was also released during the meeting.
