Tarn Taran villager booked for demanding ransom of Rs 2.50 crore

PHAGWARA: The Bilga police have booked a Tarn Taran villager on demanding a ransom of Rs 2.50 crore. Investigating officer (IO) Avtar Lal said that the accused had been identified as Satta a resident of Naushehra village in Tarn Taran district.

Harpreet Singh a resident of Talwann village complained to the police that the accused made a WhatsApp call from a number on his phone number on November 27 and demanded Rs 2.50 crore as ransom money and threatened him to kill if he did not pay.

IO said a case under section 308(2) (extortion))351(1) , 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the B.N.S. has been registered against the accused.
