AMRITSAR: In memory of the great Sikh general Sardar Sham Singh Attariwala, on the occasion of his 179th martyrdom day, a state-level function is being organized by the Punjab government on February 10 at India Gate Narayangarh and Attari.
In this regard, last evening, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Sakshi Sahni, while holding a meeting with the officers of various departments, directed that work should be done with full dedication to conduct the function smoothly.
She said that the duties of various officers have been assigned to conduct the function.
Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Sakshi Sahni said that like every year, this day will be celebrated with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm and on this occasion, Cabinet Minister Mr. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal will specially arrive to pay homage to the martyr.
She said that at 10 am , floral wreaths will be offered to the life-size statue of the martyr installed at India Gate in Narayangarh to pay tribute to the martyr.
On this occasion, the army and police personnel will salute the martyr. After this, Sri Akhand Path Sahib will be performed at the place of martyr Sardar Sham Singh Attariwala in Attari, where his last rites were performed , and on this occasion, the chief guest and other special guests will pay homage to General Sham Singh Attari.
She appealed to all the district residents to participate in this event in large numbers and pay homage to the martyr.
In this regard, today SDM Amritsar- 2 Mr. Gursimranjit Singh Dhillon specially reached India Gate to review the preparations for the event. He instructed the Municipal Corporation officials to ensure the cleanliness of Jarnail Sham Singh Attariwala Memorial India Gate. He instructed the officials that all the arrangements for the event should be completed by tomorrow evening.
Assistant Commissioner Gursimranjit Kaur , Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Jai Inder Singh , Deputy Director Horticulture Mr. Tejinder Singh , Tehsildar Mr. Jagsir Singh , Naib Tehsildar Archana Sharma, besides officials of various departments were present in the meeting.
