Sukhbir Badal comes under attack for insulting highest temporal seat of Sikhs
AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdawara Parbhandak Committed(SGPC) today removed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh and Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Sultan Singh.

The SGPC understood to have taken decision on the directions of former SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal who was indicted by five high priests for anti-panthic decisions by his party on December 2, 2024 and forced to resign from the post of president. SGPC had earlier removed Giani Harpreet Singh Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib who was among the five high priests issued edict against Sukhbir Badal and other SAD leaders.

The SGPC has appointed Kuldip Singh Gargajj new Jathedar of Akal Takht Baba Tek Singh Dhanaula is appointed Jathedar of Takht Kesgarh Sahib.

The SGPC has taken the plea that Giani Raghbir Singh is not capable of handling responsibilities of Akal Takht and he is obstinate by nature. He also did't inform the SGPC about his foreign trips. Giani Raghbir Singh who had received signals of his removal had commented a few days back that he was keeping his bags ready. He told media that he was appointed with the will of almighty and he is not afraid of losing the post.

The decision of SGPC had received wide spread criticism. The rebel SAD leaders who have launched a campaign to remove Sukhbir Badal said that decision to remove Jathedars was an attack on the autonomy of Akal Takhat.
