AMRITSAR: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has expressed strong objection to the government's decision to grant parole to Dera Sirsa chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is serving a sentence in jail on serious charges of murder and rape.

SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that this decision shows the dual approach of the government.and demanded that Ram Rahim's parole be immediately cancelled and he be sent back to jail.

SGPC chief said that the government repeatedly grants furlough and parole to Ram Rahim for political gains, while the Sikh prisoners who have been detained in various jails of the country for three decades are not being released despite completing their sentences and despite the Supreme Court's direction to the government to decide on the pardon of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, a biased attitude is being adopted.

SGPC President said that the BJP government has already given him furlough and parole during elections for political gains by turning a blind eye to Ram Rahim's heinous crimes and now he has been brought out of jail to get political gains in the Delhi Assembly and Haryana Municipal elections, which is completely wrong.

He said that such a policy of the governments is making the Sikhs feel alienated.
