AMRITSAR: Keeping in view the possible damage to crops due to heavy hailstorm in Amritsar district last night, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Sakshi Sahni has directed all the SDMs of the district to assess the damage to crops in their respective sub-divisions in collaboration with the Agriculture Department.
Apart from this, farmers who need immediate help in the form of agricultural implements or any other form of assistance should be helped.
In the orders issued, the Deputy Commissioner directed that all SDMs should form a joint team of Revenue and Agriculture Officer in their sub-divisions , who should visit the affected areas on the spot and see. Apart from this, the SDMs should also go to the fields and assess the damage caused by the hailstorm and submit a report. Meanwhile, today, SDM Lopoke Mrs. Amanpreet Kaur Ghuman visited the villages to assess the damage caused by the hailstorm in her sub-division and also assessed the damage together with the farmers. Meanwhile, Agriculture Officers Amarjit Singh and Harpreet Singh in Block Verka assessed the damage to crops in village Bal Suchandra and its adjoining areas.
