Condemnation of Education Minister's lack of seriousness towards education
MOHALI: Sanjha Teachers' Front Punjab and Democratic Teachers' Front have expressed their lack of seriousness towards education by not holding a meeting at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh on the invitation given by the Education Minister in a written letter as a result of the protest held in front of the house of Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan.
At this time, in a joint meeting held under the chairmanship of Sukhwinder Singh Chahal, the Education Minister strongly condemned the lack of meeting by the Education Minister. Digvijaypal Sharma, Baj Singh Khaira, Baljit Singh Salana, Surinder Kamboj, Surinder Kumar Puari, Sukhjinder Singh Harika, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhi, Gurbinder Singh Saskaur, Rajinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh Jhorda, Sukhwinder Singh, Manpreet Singh, Tirlochan Singh, Jagdish Rai etc. were present in the meeting. Giving information in this regard, Kuldeep Singh Durka said that the current government is responsible for not resolving the long-pending issues of teachers and pushing public education towards destruction, which wants to benefit the private education mafia by closing government schools.
The leaders mentioned the demands and said that P. T. Withdrawal of salary reduction letter of I/Art and Craft teachers, re-selection of stations by showing all vacant posts in promotions of lecturers and master cadre, transfer of computer teachers to the education department instead of the Pictus Society, implementation of salary revision and dearness allowance letters, repeal of anti-teacher rules of 2018, repeal of Education Policy 2020 and formulation of Punjab's education policy, withdrawal of salary reduction letter of teachers who participated in the national strike of 16 February 2024, restoration of old pension scheme, renaming of SLA post, appointment of class-wise teachers in primary schools and subject-wise teachers in middle, high, senior secondary schools, regularization of all types of remaining raw teachers including office workers at full grade, regularization of staff of meritorious and ideal schools in the education department, cancellation of merging of middle schools, making remaining promotions of all categories, giving immediate orders to remaining candidates from 873 DPE recruitment, students and teachers from education under CEP They demanded to stop making fake records by removing them, stop taking all kinds of non-educational work from teachers, maintain the higher grade pay and double the salary at 125% dearness allowance from January 2016, release the remaining report of the Pay Commission and remove the errors, restore all allowances including the rural allowance that was stopped in the name of revision, immediately release the arrears of salary double and dearness allowance installments and resolve all the issues of teachers.
They appealed to the teachers and teacher organizations of Punjab to participate fully in the protest to be held in the Education Minister's constituency Anandpur Sahib on January 19.
