CHANDIGARH: In a shocking turn of events, the sand mafia in Punjab has once again shown their audacity, this time attacking residents of Bari Karor, a village adjacent to Nayagaon, just minutes away from the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

“The brutal attack left three individuals, Raju Yadav, Sudhir, and Sujit, seriously injured after they opposed the illegal activities of the sand mafia”, said senior Punjab BJP leader and party’s State Media Head Vineet Joshi, who visited the site of the attack on Saturday and met with the victims to inquire about their health.

Joshi expressed his deep concern and condemned the increasing boldness of the sand mafia in the state.

Raju Yadav, currently admitted to PGI Chandigarh, has suffered severe injuries, including a fracture in one leg at three places. Yadav has also lost his one eye in the attack. Sudhir has sustained a fractured leg and a head injury, while Sujit has also been injured in the attack.

Strongly criticizing the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government for its inability to curb the rising menace of illegal land mafias in Punjab, Vineet Joshi said, “The administration's laxity and lack of stringent measures have emboldened these criminal elements, leading to a surge in illegal sand mining activities across the state and attack on the innocents. The attack on Nayagaon residents is an example of the government's failure to maintain law and order. Mann failed to safeguard the residents in Nayagaon and Bari Karor, which is located just minutes away from his residence, raising questions about the safety of the people of Punjab.”
