PHAGWARA: Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala, Amit Kumar Panchal, announced a reward of up to ₹25, 000 for individuals providing information on the use, sale, or storage of China Dor. The initiative, launched under the Punjab Pollution Control Board’s directives, aims to curb the harmful effects of synthetic nylon strings, commonly known as China Dor.
DC Panchal highlighted that the manufacturing, sale, purchase, or storage of synthetic, nylon, or coated kite strings is strictly prohibited across Punjab. Violators of the Environment Protection Act, 1986, or its related provisions, face penalties ranging from ₹10, 000 to ₹15 lakh.
To report incidents, a toll-free helpline has been set up at 1800-180-2810, ensuring complete anonymity for informants. "The name of the person providing information will be kept confidential, " said Panchal, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter.
Citing the dangers of China Dor, including injuries to humans and animals and its environmental impact, the Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to completely refrain from its usage.
