Chandigarh police stopped Congress women from marching towards Vidhan Sabha, used water canons

CHANDIGARH: Hundreds of workers of Punjab Mahila Congress today held a protest march here against AAP government for not paying promised Rs.1000 stipend to women. PPCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa led the march.
Chandigarh police had installed barricades near Congress Bhawan in sector 15 to stop the protesting women who wanted to go to Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Police stopped the protesters and used the water canons to disperse them. Over hundered women protesters were arrested. PPCC president Raja Warring was also arrested by police.
Raja Warring while addressing the protesting women workers said that Bhagwant Mann government had promised to pay Rs.1000 per month to women in state. Three years had passed but not even a single penny is paid. He demanded to pay Rs.36000 arrear of three years to all women and then start Rs.1100 per month.
Raja Warring said that nobody is happy with this government. Kisan and Jawan and women all are being vitimised by AAP government. He said that farmers were illtreated and government is shielding the guilty policemen who beat up Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath.
Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa condemned the use of water canons on women. He criticised the Chandigarh police for being ruthless.
