Punjab govt wrongly implementing default esz of 10 km by adopting pick and choose policy: Vineet Joshi

PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | December 24, 2024 06:52 PM

Joshi questions Punjab govt over not passing Nayagaon building plans but allowing the same in New Chandigarh
NAYAGAON: The Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab is anti-poor and anti-lower middle class, benefits the rich and upper middle class. The evidence of this is the government's implementation of the default 10 kms Sukhna ESZ decision in one single stretch of 10 kms in a contradictory manner. Nayagaon Ghar Bachao Manch chairman and senior Punjab BJP leader Vineet Joshi said here today.

It is pertinent to mention here that for Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary's Eco Sensitive Zone, officers of the Department of Forests & Wildlife Preservation and the Local Government of Punjab, wrongly interpreting the Wildlife Conservation Rules 1972, Central Government Guidelines, and decisions or orders of the various courts have declared 10 kms as default ESZ till formally notified by the Punjab Government.

Joshi added that after implementing the wrongly interpreted default 10 kms ESZ decision, the Punjab Government has stopped passing building plans for Nayagaon, Karoran and Nada. This has badly hit poor and lower middle income group people owning two or three or four marlas of land in Nayagaon Municipal area.

If the 10 km ESZ is the reason for not approving Building Plans in Nayagaon, may I ask why similar plans are being approved in New Chandigarh, he asked.

Still, at the same time for the rest of the adjacent area of New Chandigarh falling under the same single stretch of ten kilometers, there are no such restrictions and construction work is going on in full swing. The only reason is that the influential, rich affluent class owns plots in New Chandigarh. This area includes high rise buildings of Marbella, sham exotica project, society of IPS officers, IAS PCS Society, Manohar City, Omaxe, DLF, Eco City 1-2, MLA Flats and other adjoining areas. Even the Doon School, Strawberry School, Mullapur Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Stadium are in violation of the said order.

Joshi demanded that the Punjab Government, especially the officers of the local body or the EO of municipal council Nayagaon, should rectify their mistake and start passing the building plans of areas under it.
