CHANDIGARH: In an interaction with the media, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and Member of Parliament from Ludhiana, launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for his government’s continued arrogance and disregard for Punjab’s farmers.
Raja Warring strongly criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing him of displaying arrogance and dismissive behaviour towards the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha. He stated that rather than engaging in constructive discussions to resolve the farmers' grievances, the government has resorted to conducting raids on the residences of farmer leaders. “This clearly reveals the Aam Aadmi Party’s role as a mere extension of the BJP, persistently betraying the trust and interests of Punjab’s farming community, ” Warring remarked.
Exposing the shortcomings of the government, the PPCC Chief emphasized, "For the last three years, the Aam Aadmi Party has utterly failed to fulfill the commitments it made to the people of Punjab. Their inability to govern is evident to all. Now, after facing a crushing defeat in Delhi, they are desperately trying to shift focus with half-hearted initiatives like their pretentious anti-drug campaign, which is nothing but a staged drama to deceive the citizens of Punjab."
Warring did not mince words as he questioned the government’s mishandling of the ongoing farmer struggles. “The Chief Minister needs to remember that farmers are not his adversaries. They are the backbone of our economy and the foundation of Punjab’s prosperity. When farmers prosper, Punjab thrives—markets flourish, small traders earn, and households benefit. Yet, instead of respecting their contributions, this government has resorted to arresting them. Is this how you treat those who feed the nation?”
Calling out CM Bhagwant Mann’s lack of leadership, he added, “For over a year, our farmers have been protesting, and tragically, one leader has even put his life at stake for the cause. Yet, the Chief Minister, blinded by arrogance, has refused to listen to their concerns. If farmers cannot speak to their own Chief Minister, where else can they go? His high-handedness weakens the very future of Punjab.”
In a strong concluding statement, Raja Warring demanded immediate action. “Stop this hollow showmanship and start addressing the real issues. Respect the struggles of our farmers, engage in genuine dialogue, and find constructive solutions. Punjab’s people deserve better than this arrogant and incompetent administration.”
