Punjab CM releases souvenir to extend best wishes to participants of Summer Fancy Food Show-2024, being held at New York

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday released the souvenir wishing good luck to the team of food exporters of Punjab slated to participate in the 68th Summer Fancy Food Show-2024, being held at New York from June 23-25.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that the best food companies from across the globe will participate in this food show. He said that w delegation of leading food companies of Punjab will also participate in this mega food festival. Bhagwant Singh Mann recalled that Punjab has played a pivotal role in ushering in the Green Revolution in India.

The Chief Minister said that hard working and resilient farmers of state have transformed Punjab into a surplus state for food grains and contributing significantly to the national food pool. He said that since agricultural production has reached a stage of plateau so accelerating agricultural diversification through high-value crops such as fruits and vegetables is imperative. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this shift has the potential to raise farm incomes, ensure sustainability, and provide livelihood security while also boosting foreign revenue.

The Chief Minister said that there is a huge scope to boost the exports of Punjab foods, particularly products like Verka, Sohna, and Five Rivers, produced by Milkfed, Markfed, and Punjab Agro, respectively. He said that Punjab Mart is an initiative conceived with a broad vision and mission to take "Made in Punjab" food and agricultural produce to the global stage adding that it aims to showcase and promote our rich culinary heritage internationally. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this initiative will create opportunities for local farmers and producers and enhance the visibility of Punjabi food and products.

On the occasion Chairman of Punjab State Food Commission Bal Mukand Sharma was also present.
