Bhagwant Mann gives warning of dismissal, says he can't give anyone, licence of corruption
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today cracked down on striking Tehsildars and warned them to face suspension, break in service and dismissal from service.
The Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars all over the state had gone on strike till Friday and also threatened to expose the illegally amassed wealth of Vigilance Officers, Bureaucrats and political leaders who are branding them (Tehsildars) corrupt. The Tehsildars are protesting against suspension of three Tehsildars on corruption charges.
The action taken by Chief Minister has received huge support from the public facing inconvenience due to strike. Many of the buyers and purchasers of property were not able to register property deeds due to strike. The Chief Minister had given charge of the Tehsildars to PCS officers and junior revenue officials like Kannugoes.
Bhagwant Mann has given ultimatum till 5 PM today to striking staff to join their duties or face punitive action. He said that regular officials on strike would face break in their service and suspension while the Tehsildars on probation would be dismissed from service. He said that Tehsildars were demanding to reinstate the three Tehsildars caught red handed by Vigilance Department. "I cant give them licence for corruption" CM said in hard tone.
Bhagwant Mann said that Tehsildars were getting salary package of about Rs.one lakh and enjoying all perks linked to their seats. He said that state government would not bow to pressures and will not tolerate corruption in the government. He wished happy holiday to Tehsildars and said that he would ensure they dont return to their seats.
