GURDASPUR: Pong Dam Authority has issued an alert stating that on 20 August 2022 at 01:00 PM, 422267 cusecs of water is entering the dam and the water level in the dam has reached 1372.33 feet.
Keeping in mind the safety of the dam due to continuous high water coming into the Pong Dam, the excess water will be released by the Pong Dam Authority in the Shah Canal Barrage from where this water will be released into the Beas River. Considering the criticality of the occasion, the Pong Dam Authority has issued a warning that the water level in the Beas river may rise.
Keeping in mind the warning issued by the Pong Dam Authority, Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Mr. Muhammad Ishfaq has warned the people living near the river Beas that they should not go to the low-lying areas affected by the water and the people who are near the river Beas should be vigilant. And move to safer places before the water level rises.
He said that the district administration is keeping a close watch on all the situations and the officials have also been alerted.
