AMRITSAR: The photographs of Jathedar Dalip Singh Talwandi and Bhai Amarjit Singh Khemkaran were installed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in the Central Sikh Museum within Golden Temple complex here today.
Jathedar Dalip Singh has been an executive committee member of the Shiromani Committee, while Bhai Amarjit Singh Khemkaran was martyred during the operation blue star on Sri Darbar Sahib in 1984.
On the occasion of placing the pictures of these two personalities, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, General Secretary Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal and Singh Sahib Giani Rajdeep Singh of Sachkhand Sri Harimandar Sahib and other prominent personalities were present.
Speaking on the occasion, SGPC General Secretary Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal said that the Central Sikh Museum is an important source of Sikh history and heritage and national honor is given here by decorating the pictures of those who sacrificed for the nation.
He said that Jathedar Dalip Singh Talwandi served as a senior member of the Shiromani Committee for a long time.
Bhai Grewal said that Jathedar Dalip Singh played an active role in the Jaito morcha and the Punjabi suba Morcha In 1955, Jathedar Dalip Singh went on a fast to death with Master Tara Singh and took a group of Singhs to Delhi and arrested him.
He said that because of these activities, the Congress government had also ransacked the house of Jathedar Dalip Singh.
Bhai Grewal said that similarly the contribution of martyr Bhai Amarjit Singh Khemkaran is also exemplary. During the military attack on Sri Darbar Sahib in 1984, he was martyred on June 6, 1984 while fighting the Indian forces. He said that the Sikh community always remembers the personalities who contributed to the panth.
During the event, Singh Sahib Giani Jaswant Singh and Secretary of the Shiromani Committee. Pratap Singh also expressed his views. On this occasion, the family members of Jathedar Dalip Singh and Shaheed Bhai Amarjit Singh Khemkaran and the present personalities were honored by giving Guru Bakhshish Siropao.
