PHAGWARA: Municipal Corporation Phagwara having 50 municipal Wards is presently facing acute shortage of staff and the residents who are paying regular required taxes , were being deprived off several facilities in normal routine supposed to be provided by Municipal Corporation.
This Correspondent observed that out of 58 posts of clerks and officers out of total 68 sanctioned posts are lying vacant in Phagwara Municipal. Corporation.
When contacted Municipal Corporation Phagwara Commissioner Navneet Bal who is ADC(General) also told here today that the post of Joint Commissioner and Secretary(MC) are lying vacant, while out of two posts of SEs one is lying vacant, 4 posts out of five sanctioned posts of Assistant Engineers are lying vacant, six out of 8 sanctioned posts of JuniorEngineers, 4 out of five Building inspectors, all four posts of Superintendents and two of accountants are lying vacant for a long period. Moreover 35 posts out of 40 sanctioned posts of clerks are still lying vacant for several months.
Moreover MC Phagwara have not sufficient electricians even to. Switch on or Switch off the street lights.Thus either street lights could not be. Switched on night hours at several places and switched off in sun rise time in several localities.
Interestingly MC Commissioner had written to Director Local Bodies several times and last request was sent on September 27 last year but nothing could be fruitful to fill these Vacant posts.
Though Punjab Local Bodies Minister Punjab Dr Ravjot Singh during his visit to MC Phagwara in the month of October last year and then claimed that local bodies department would soon be fully computerised. to facilitate the people but even after three months the people are facing several problems to deposit different taxes online specially property taxes and sewerage bills via Paytm or Google Pay etc.
The Minister Dr Ravjot then assured to facilitate the people to deposit their bills online but nothing could be initiated by the local bodies department even after three months of the assurance of the local bodies minister.
