Make people aware by organizing maximum number of camps to eradicate drugs - Additional Deputy Commissioner

AMRITSAR: Today, under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Jyoti Bala and in the presence of police and other senior officers, an important meeting was held to implement the National Coordination Center for Drug Law Enforcement Framework and increase control over drugs in the district.

In the meeting, discussions were held regarding stopping drug trafficking , creating awareness among the people and getting cooperation from the people and it was said that more camps should be organized in schools , colleges , brick kilns , factories and people should be made aware about drugs and it should be brought to their attention that they should take drug addicts to de-addiction centers where they are treated free of cost by the government.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the fight against drugs requires joint efforts of law and order , district administration and society.

She said that the administration is committed to taking strict action against drug peddlers and rehabilitating people who have fallen into the clutches of drugs , but for this, the cooperation of the police as well as the people is also very important.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner asked the officers to organize drug awareness programs in the villages in collaboration with the newly elected Panchayats and inform the people about the harm caused by the harmful effects of drugs.

Addressing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Jyoti Bala told the officials that the cannabis plant will spread very fast in the coming season, so the Agriculture Officer as well as the Forest Department officials should destroy this plant immediately.

She asked the education officials to take special care that this plant does not grow in the playgrounds of schools and arrangements should be made to eradicate this plant immediately.

On this occasion, Border Security Force officials mentioned the problems faced on the border and told about drug smuggling and also assured that BSF is working day and night to recover drugs and its results are also coming very well.

They said that light drones of new technology are constantly coming from across the border, but due to the vigilance of BSF personnel, these drones are being caught.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the BSF officials to catch the criminals who are ordering drugs through drones from across the border along with the drones.

Ravinder Singh Arora , SDM Lopoke Mrs. Amandeep Kaur , Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Gurmeet Kaur , Health Officer Municipal Corporation Dr. Kiran Kumar , Medical Officers Dr. Charanjit Kaur and Dr. Raghav Gupta , Dr. J.P. S. Bhatia , Nodal Officer S. Dharminder Singh , DSP Jail Mr. Yogesh Jain , Deputy SP Navtej Singh , DSP Azad Davinder Singh , Medical Superintendent Dr. Karamjit Singh , Dr. Neeru Bala, besides B.S.C.F. and Customs officers were also present.
