Summons whole village on April 8 for discussion on unfortunate incident
AMRITSAR: Taking strict note of the incident of burning of three Saroops of the holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib due to an electrical short circuit at a Gurdwara Sahib in Bham village of Gurdaspur district last night, the acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj personally reached the concerned village this morning.

He obtained complete information about the incident from the administrators of the Gurdwara Sahib and all the villagers.

The villagers said that last night an electrical appliance was left running inside the Guru Ghar, due to which there was a short circuit and a fire broke out in which the sacred scriptures were burnt.

Jathedar Gargaj informed the villagers and the administrators about the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the instructions of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee regarding the maintenance respect of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and asked them to strictly follow them.

Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargaj sternly reprimanded the villagers and administrators and said that 24-hour security at the Guru Ghar is very important and if this is not arranged by any management committee, then Sri Akal Takht Sahib will take immediate strict action.

On this occasion, Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib has called a gathering of all the Sangats of the area on April 8 in which discussions will be held regarding the maintenance of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the village and in the area so that such an incident does not happen in the future.

Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargajj said that the instructions from Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee are clear that 24-hour security should be ensured at the Guru Ghar and electrical appliances should be switched off in the absence of the sevadar .

He urged the entire Sikh world to take special care of the respect and reverence of Guru Granth Sahib, CCTV cameras and security arrangements should be made mandatory at the Gurdwaras.

He once again clarified that strict action will be taken against those who violate the instructions regarding the maintenance respect of Guru Granth Sahib.
