AMRITSAR: Giani Raghbir Singh Jathedar Akal Takht has strongly condemned the incident of desecration of the holy image of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Gurdwara Baba Jeevan Singh Ji in village Muradpura, Patti Rampura in Amritsar district.
In a written statement issued by the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh said that the incident of desecration of the holy image of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is going to shake the hearts of Sikhs and has ordered the Dharm Prachar Committee Secretary of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to conduct a thorough investigation of the desecration of the Patti Rampura village of Patti Rampura at Gurdwara Baba Jeevan Singh Ji and send the report to the Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat within five days.
He said in a strict tone that during the investigation, if the Gurdwara management is also found guilty, strict action will be taken against them from Sri Akal Takht Sahib as per tradition.
He said that it is a matter of regret that the governments have failed miserably in stopping the heart-wrenching incidents of blasphemy.
