Guru Nanak Dev University organized national workshop on Relevance of IPR in the Era of Innovation Driven Research

AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University has recently established Golden Jubilee Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation with the financial support from RUSA 2.0.The center was set up under the leadership of Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu to support skill education and promote entrepreneurship.

The center has state of the art infrastructure to train students in various disciplines and provide platform to translate their ideas. Further the center has developed SOP’s and Policy documents to support the activities of the center. Aligned with the mandate of the center, a two days National workshop on “Relevance of IPR in the Era of Innovation Driven Research” through both online/offline mode was organized by the center on 26th and 27th August, 2022. The objective of the workshop is to sensitize the participants about the important role of IPR in generation and nurturing new knowledge. To discuss various dimensions of IPR, resource persons from reputed institutions were invited to deliver talks. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Sarbjot Singh Behl, Dean, Academic Affairs, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) P.K. Pati, Coordinator, GJCEI, Ms. Harkirandeep Kaur, Workshop Coordinator and resource persons, Dr. Pavan Kumar, Senior Scientist at CSIR, IMMT Bhubneshwar and Dr. Yogesh Dhoble, Senior Principal Scientist CSIR, IPU New Delhi. On this occasion a book titled’Jurisprudence of Intellectual Property Rights” edited by Dr. Komal Krishan Mehta and Dr. Vanita Khanna, faculty of Laws, RC Jullundur.

Addressing the gathering Prof. Behl explained the need of IPR in every sphere of life. He maintained that knowledge and catalyzing to the economic gain and in new world order. Participants of the workshop were advised to think differently and convert their ideas to meaningful innovative practices. Prof. P.K. Pati introduced the participants with the mandates of the GJCEI and encouraged them to get involved in various activities being carried out by the centre. He also briefed the audience about the infrastructure available at the centre and the future activities as well. Dr. Pavan Kumar, Senior Scientist at CSIR, IMMT Bhubneshwar and Dr. Yogesh Dhoble, Senior Principal Scientist CSIR, IPU New Delhi delivered expert talks in person at the centre. Dr. Aparna Maitra Pati, Chief Scientist CSIR, IHBT Palampur delivered the expert talk through online mode.
