FEROZEPUR : The Governor of Punjab Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit said that we can stop the efforts made by the border parle mulk to smuggle weapons and drugs into the country with the intention of destabilizing India with public participation and perfect coordination of all security agencies. Panchs of the border villages of the district were addressing the sarpanches at Genesis Dental College Ferozepur here today.
The Governor of Punjab said that 6 border districts of the state are very sensitive. He said that Pakistan has realized that it cannot dare to go to war with India directly, so it is targeting our youth through drugs and other deadly weapons. But we can thwart these tricks of the enemy if all people are vigilant and inform the police about those involved in these evil deeds. He said that to save our youth, it is necessary that we all forget our differences and work unitedly on this issue of national security.
The governor said that for this reason, civic security committees at the village and ward levels can be very effective. When we keep watch in our villages and wards, such anti-social elements will be defeated.
He said that since he came to Punjab as Governor, he has been continuously working on this subject and success is also being achieved through the good coordination of security agencies, but public participation is also mandatory. He appealed to the Sarpanches to cooperate more in this work of national security as we are fighting to save our future generations. Appreciating the contribution of Punjabis in the country's freedom struggle and in filling the country's food reserves after independence, he said that we will continue to win in this fight against drugs. On this occasion, he appreciated the Agnipath scheme and said that it is a very good scheme for the youth and it will also prevent the rising unemployment. He said that he would put forward his proposal to give special quota to the youth of the border districts in Agnipath. Apart from this, while speaking about the development works of the border area, he said that if the funds for the development works are stopped or there is a delay, they will be resolved quickly so that the border districts can develop.
On this occasion, Mr. Banwari Lal Purohit mentioned the problems of the border areas and said that he will raise the voice of these people to the central government for the development of this area.
Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Amrit Singh thanked the Governor and other guests and informed how the district administration is working among the people of the border villages.
