Focus on Enrolment and Mandatory Biometric Update of children - DC Patiala

PATIALA: A District Level Aadhaar Monitoring Committee was held under the Chairmanship of Sh. Showkat Ahmad Parray, IAS , DC, Patiala on 19/07/2024 in presence of Sh. Sanjeev Mahajan, Director UIDAI Regional Office, Chandigarh to review the status of Aadhaar enrolment and further strengthening the ecosystem. The Aadhaar authentication and Aadhaar offline verification including use of QR code for Aadhaar verification was discussed.

Sh. Showkat instructed health department to organize Aadhaar camps in Hospitals and vaccination centers to enroll new born and children below age of 5 years. He also instructed officers to inspect Aadhaar enrolment centres regularly to ensure proper functioning. He appealed the residents to get Mandatory Bio-metric updates (MBU) done on attaining the age of 5 years and 15 years. This facility is free for children of age group 5-7 years and 15-17 years. He instructed education department to prepare roster for movement of kits in the schools for this purpose.

Director UIDAI, Sh Sanjeev Mahajan appealed to the residents to keep their mobile number and documents updated in Aadhaar for availing various government facilities seamlessly. He informed that document update facility is free of cost till 14th September, 2024.

Sh. Mahajan explained key aspects on Aadhaar authentication, verification and emphasized use of Aadhaar for good governance and ease of living of residents.
