NAWANSHAHR: District C Hospital, Nawanshahar has been awarded the "Kaya Kalp Award" for the fourth consecutive year. In the results, announced for the year 2022-23, District Hospital, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Nawanshahr has secured the second position by securing 92.87 percent marks among the 23 districts of the state due to its exemplary health services.
Even before this, District Hospital, Nawanshahr has bagged this award thrice. Not only this, the district hospital had also won a prize of Rs 30 lakh under the National Quality Assurance Standards Programme of Government of India.
Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr Balbir Singh felicitated this prestigious award to Civil Surgeon SBS Nagar Dr Davinder Dhanda and Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr Harpreet Singh, at the state level Kayakalap award ceremony held at Government Medical College, Patiala, yesterday. Apart from District Hospital, Nawanshahr, Sub Division Hospital, Balachaur and Community Health Center, Kathgarh and one health and wellness centre of the district have also been given certificates under the Kaya Kalp programme for securing more than 70 percent marks.
Under the Kayakalap programme, the district hospital, Nawanshahr, in the district hospital category had to go through a 300-point check of internal assessment, peer assessment and other ratings, including hospital cleanliness, internal and external appearance, proper care, OPD, Ward, Labour Room, Laboratory, Laundry, Mortuary, Operation theater maintenance, proper management of bio medical waste and setting up of herbal garden etc.
Speaking on this achievement, Civil Surgeon Dr Davinder Dhanda said that the main objective of the Kayakalap program is to promote better treatment management, cleanliness and hygiene in government health institutions and make the institution infection free. The Kayakalap program is proving to be a boon for providing quality health services in government health institutions, he added. Greater focus is being placed on safe and quality patient care at District Hospital Nawanshahr while meeting the parameters of the Kayakalap programme.
Dr. Davinder Dhanda said that District Hospital Nawanshahr is providing better health services to the residents of the district and being selected for this award for the fourth time shows its services to humanity.
Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa congratulated the entire staff of the District Health Department, Nodal Officer Kayakalap Program, Senior Medical Officer of the District Hospital, all medical officers of the hospital for the dedicated efforts of all of them to retain the position. He said that it was a matter of pride for the district to receive this honour for the fourth consecutive time due to hard work.
