Urges him to push food processing and value addition for agriculture in Punjab and Haryana
CHANDIGARH: A delegation led by S. Bhupinder Singh Mann, EX MP, Chairman All India Kisan Coordination Committee and National President BKU met Ho'ble Union Minister of State for food processing and Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu at New Delhi. Other members of delegation included Gurpartap Singh Mann, Ex Member PPSC, Ch Guni Parkash, Member MSP Committee, President BKU Haryana, Sukhwinder Singh Kahlon, President BKU, Chairman Sugar Mill Batala, Balwant Singh Nadiali BKU Punjab.
S. Mann urged the Minister to give greater emphasis on developing food processing industry in Punjab and Haryana as this is "the" way forward to alleviate farmers from financial crisis by value addition in the post harvest food chain. S. Mann said that this is probably the most important focus area which can transform and revolutionize Punjab. The financial benefit coming from value addition, processing, export of vegetables, fruits and food grains can be a game changer.
S. Ravneet Singh Bittu shared his vision for transforming the landscape of food processing industry in Punjab. He said that his Government under leadership of Sh Narendra Modi is committed to give a boost to the Food processing industry to change the economic spectrum of rural Punjab.
Ch Guni Prakash, President BKU Haryana and Member MSP Committee requested that he along with other members would seek separate time from Hon'ble Minister for discussions on Food Processing as part of the recommendations in the Committee report.
S. Sukhwinder Singh Kahlon drew attention of the Minister towards the blocked underpasses on the Batala Qadian railway line. Minister assured of immediate action.
