KAPURTHALA: In a major step to preserve the rich heritage of Kapurthala city, 160 years old clock at 'Ghanta Ghar' school has been made functional with the concrete efforts of Deputy commissioner Kapurthala Mr. Vishesh Sarangal.
This clock at Government Senior Secondary School (Ghanta Ghar) was non-functional for a long time. The Deputy Commissioner Mr. Sarangal came to knew about this on the occasion of National Voter's Day, and he announced to establish its glory again.
The Deputy Commissioner hired the services of TR Clock Repair Company of Calcutta to bring this ancient clock, which once used to tell the time to the entire Kapurthala city, back into working condition.
The name of the London city has been written on this clock, and this clock was made in 1862 by the New York based Jones & Company.
Deputy Commissioner said that the city of Kapurthala city has a rich heritage , due to which its called the Paris of Punjab.
He said that great efforts are being made by the district administration for the preservation of ancient buildings, places and goods, which will be further intensified in future .
