PHAGWARA: The Congress activists led by Phagwara MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal today staged a protest outside the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office, opposing what they called the "anti-people policies" of the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

The protest was aimed at urging the government to roll back recent hikes in fuel and electricity prices, which the Congress claims have burdened the common man.

Addressing the protesters, Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal criticized the government's price hikes on petrol, diesel, and electricity, stating that the increases are devastating Punjab's transportation sector, small businesses, and farmers. Dhaliwal urged the state government to immediately reverse the fuel price hikes and restore the Rs. 3 subsidy on electricity bills for connections up to 7 kilowatts, which was offered during the Congress regime.

“This so-called 'common man’s government' is crushing the common people under rising costs. Punjab’s economic and social progress is being undermined by policies that are destroying industries and livelihoods, ” said Dhaliwal, in a sharp attack on the Mann government.

Senior PPCC leader Narinder Mansu, former councillor Sanjeev Bugga, and other prominent speakers echoed Dhaliwal’s sentiments, urging the government to ease the financial burden on the people of Punjab.

Several prominent Congress leaders attended the protest, including Deepak Salwan, Amarjit Singh Saidowal, Kuldeep Singh, Mandeep Singh, Jaspal Singh, Jaswant Singh Neeta, and Ranjeet Kaur Rani.
