CM launches Punjab Police's Public Grievances Redressal Portal

CHANDIGARH: In another landmark initiative aimed at facilitating the common man, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan on Monday launched Punjab Police’s Public Grievances Redressal Portal in the presence of senior officials of the state government.

“This revolutionary decision is aimed at enabling the citizens to lodge their complaints online, monitor its progress and get the report , while sitting at home just on a single click of their computers” said the Chief Minister.

Reiterating the firm commitment of his government to provide citizen centric governance for the people of state, Chief Minister said that this unique software will provides a complete solution for Public Grievances Redressal mechanism. He said that this mechanism helps the citizens to register their complaints online, and monitor its progress without moving in the offices. Bhagwant Mann said that this system will effectively end the practice of multiple and parallel inquiries in the system thereby helping the citizens to get their work done in a time bound manner.

The Chief Minister, while sharing the details, said that the objective of this software is to deliver transparent and time-bound justice to the complainant. He further said that this system will also strengthen accountability in system, where erring officials can be held accountable for their inaction and inordinate delay. Further describing the procedure to lodge complaints, Bhagwant Mann said that complainants can visit the website Pgd.punjabpolice.gov.in and create a permanent account by following a few simple steps including filling in their name and mobile number. Following this, he said that a password will be generated and a permanent account will be established on the portal. Bhagwant Mann said that after it the complainant will be able to lodge their complaints and using the credentials can track the progress of the complaint.

Speaking on the occasion, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav described it as an endeavour of the police department to provide an accountable and responsive system, which will further bring transparency in Police functioning.
