Providing residential areas to people at affordable rates will be the top priority
PHAGWARA: Newly appointed Chairman of Kapurthala Municipal Improvement Trust, Arjuna Awardee Sajjan Singh Cheema, assumed the charge as Chairman in the presence of Punjab’s Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh.
Hailing the appointment of Mr. Cheema, the Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is making significant efforts for the holistic development of the state. He said that Mr. Cheema is a loyal soldier of the party and has been entrusted with a significant responsibility by the party. He expressed hope that Mr. Cheema would serve diligently as the Chairman of the Improvement Trust.
Expressing gratitude to Aam Aadmi Party Supremo Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Punjab AAP President Aman Arora for his appointment, Mr. Cheema said that comprehensive planning would be done by the Improvement Trust to provide housing to people in the city at reasonable rates. He stated that a special survey of the entire city would soon be conducted to explore the potential for residential and commercial areas, and those areas would be developed to boost the overall progress of the city.
He also mentioned that a helpline number would be issued to make the services provided by the Municipal Improvement Trust more transparent and accessible, allowing people to contact them directly.
It may be mentioned here that Mr. Cheema is a former international basketball player and was honored with the Arjuna Award by the Government of India for his contributions to the field of sports.
