Says Election Commission’s Decision to Withdraw Kejriwal’s Punjab Police Security is Proof
PHAGWARA: Former Rajya Sabha Member Avinash Rai Khanna has criticized Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, claiming that his statements are mere announcements that lack any grounding in reality. He cited the Election Commission’s decision to withdraw AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s Punjab Police security as clear evidence of this.
Addressing the media, Khanna took aim at the AAP government, particularly targeting Bhagwant Mann’s earlier promises to end VIP culture in Punjab. Khanna alleged that Mann misled the people of Punjab with lofty declarations about abolishing VIP culture to secure power but reversed his stance as soon as he became the Chief Minister.
“Before coming to power, Bhagwant Mann criticized the use of heavy police security, long convoys of vehicles, and the use of helicopters. Ironically, he is now indulging in the very practices he once condemned, ” Khanna said.
The BJP leader further accused Bhagwant Mann of being a puppet of Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that Punjab’s government is operating entirely under Kejriwal’s influence. He pointed to the Punjab Police security provided to Kejriwal as an example, which the Election Commission recently revoked.
Khanna warned that Bhagwant Mann’s alleged “unconstitutional” and “dictatorial” decisions have not gone unnoticed by the people of Punjab. “The public will deliver a fitting response to the AAP government by rejecting them in the upcoming elections, ” he stated.
Khanna’s remarks are expected to further intensify the political debate in Punjab, with the BJP ramping up its criticism of the AAP government ahead of the next electoral battle.
