AMRITSAR: Giani Raghbir Singh Jathedar of Akal Takht today took strict stand and refused to give any relaxation to Sukhbir Badal former deputy chief Minister of Punjab to campaign in the by-elections of Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

Giani Raghbir Singh said that after Diwali, a meeting of Panj Singh Sahibans will be held in which a decision will be taken in this regard.

Speaking to reporters here today, Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh said that a delegation of senior Akali leaders led by Shiromani Akali Dal's working president Balwinder Singh Bhundar had arrived to meet him last night. That delegation had insisted that keeping in mind the sentiments of the workers, Sukhbir Singh Badal should be given some relaxation in the matter of declaring him a Tankhiya by Akal Takht Sahib in the by-elections of the Vidhan Sabha.

Giani Raghbir Singh said that the definition of Tankha is that he remains a Tankhiya until he completes his Tankha.

The Jathedar again clarified that there is a definition of a Tankhiya person until he appears before Sri Akal Takht Sahib Panj Singh Sahib and completes the Tankha due from the historical decree of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

According to him, if a Sikh is a Tankhiya person, then he should proceed accordingly. In response to a question about government interference in the meeting of SGPC, Jathedar said that Shiromani Committee is a great organization of Sikhs and governments should not interfere in it.
