AMRITSAR: On the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Divas (Vaisakhi), 1052 devotees have received visas for the jatha sent by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to visit Gurdwaras in Pakistan.
This Jatha will leave from the Shiromani Committee office on April 9. The Shiromani Committee sent the passports of 1161 pilgrims to the Pakistan Embassy in Delhi, out of which the embassy did not issue Visas to 109 pilgrims.
Giving information in this regard, Secretary of the Shiromani Committee. Pratap Singh said that like every year, this time too, a Jatha of Sikh pilgrims is to be sent to Pakistan on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Vaisakhi). The Jatha will leave from the Shiromani Committee office on April 9 amid cheers, which will return to the country on April 18 after visiting various Gurdhams in Pakistan. The main event of Baisakhi will be held on April 14 at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib Hasan Abdal.
Pratap Singh said that there is great enthusiasm among the devotees for darshan of Gurdhams located in Pakistan, but their religious feelings are hurt by the government's cutting off the VJ of pilgrims.
He said that the Government of India and Pakistan should open their hearts to the pilgrims who go to visit the Gurudwaras, so that the pilgrims can visit the Gurdwaras they have left.
He appealed to the pilgrims going to Pakistan to get their passports from the Shiromani Committee office during office hours.
