JALANDHAR: Police has arrested Gurjeet Singh a Granthi (Sikh preacher) who allegedly torn a Gutka at Adampur on Sunday. Few torn pages of 'Gutka' (Holy Book) were spotted at Adampur today by the residents of the area lying on the bank of canal they immediately informed the police about the unwanted act.
On receiving the intimation a sizable police contingent led by Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Parminder Singh Bhandal, rushed on the place of incident, called the forensic experts for examination of the torn pages of the holy 'Gutka' recovered by them and registered a case against an unknown persons on hurting the religious sentiments of the followers.
According to the police sources, they apprehend that Gurjit Singh purchased the Holy 'Gutka Sahib' and torn into pieces 'gutka Sahib' after a Kirtan Darbar was held at Government Senior Secondary School of Girls in Village Khurdpur about 7 Kilometers from the spot where the torn pages were found on Sunday to disturb he peace of the people of Punjab.
