BATALA: The civil lines police have arrested a woman on the charge of duping unemployed youth worth Rs. 33.71 lakh while giving them lure to recruit them in General Railway Police. He son and another relative were absconding.
The SHO civil line police station told that Ramesh Chander, a resident of this town had lodged a compliant with the senior superintendent of police Batala on March 10, 2015 that his aunt Harbans Kaur, her son Balwinder Kumar and another relative Aarti, a resident of Phool Piara village in Pathankot district, met them and asked they could recruit their son Sunil Kumar and Kamal Kant in the General railway police(GRP) as a commanding officer in Border Security Force had close relations with him who could recruit their son in GRP.
Ramesh Chander gave them Rs. 20 to recruit his two sons and two other nephew at the rate of Rs. 5 lakh each.He also paid Rs. 13.71 lakh for other petty works but they neither recruit them nor returned his money.
On his complaint, them DSP (deductive) Kirpal Singh conducted a probe and found them of guilty and a case of duping Rs.33.71 lakh was registered against Harbans Kaur, a resident of Lallian wali gali Batala, her son Balwinder Kumar and their another relative Aarti on March 29 last year but all accused were absconding.
SHO Said that police managed to arrest Harbans Kaur during a surprise raid on her resident at Lallian Wali Gali here last night but her son Balwinder Kumar and another relative Aarti were still absconding.
