MOHALI: Rayat Bahra University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for “Project on Flagship Scheme of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India with Qvolv Private Limited and Focalyst Private Limited.
The MoU was signed by Dr Dinesh Sharma, Registrar, Rayat Bahra University, Sachin Mishra, Vice- President, Focalyst and Avinash Kalra, Business Head, Qvolv Private Limited.
The other dignitaries present on the occasion included Dr Poonam Panwar, HoD, CA, Dr. Pooja Sharma, HoD, CSE, Dr. Vikas Attri and Dr. Kiranpreet Kaur.
Chancellor of RBU Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Vice-Chancellor Dr Satish Kumar Bansal and Dr Anand Kumar Shukla, Dean, USC, were also present at the MoU signing ceremony.
The objective of the MOU is to impart training to the students in the emerging area of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR) by setting up a state-of-art System Laboratory (AR/VR Lab) on the campus of Rayat Bahra University. It will facilitate skill-based training of campus students and students from outside the department which may lead to development of AR/VR applications.
As a part of MOU, RBU will provide necessary resources for setting up the AR/VR lab, and Focalyst Pvt. Ltd. will help in execution of proposal for skill development of students and Qvolv Pvt. Ltd. will provide a suitable platform and other facilities required for functioning of the Lab and project.
Students enrolled in programs will receive training on AR/VR and its applications from RBU and two other entities, which will improve the students' educational experience and enrich the course material.
Additionally, it will give students, academics, and faculty members the chance to conduct research, work on projects in AR and VR, and create a number of cutting-edge apps.
Gurvinder Singh Bahra said that the RBU will offer students financial assistance for internships as well as employment prospects. This will not only apply to RBU students, but also to students from other departments and universities who have required computer skills.
