CHANDIGARH: Borivali , Mumbai MLA Sunil Rane felicitated J&K para archer Sheetal Devi during Atharva Foundation’s ‘Women Achievers Awards 2024’ to mark Women’s Day at Prabodhakar Keshav Sitaram Thackeray Natyamandir , Mumbai on Wednesday.
Rane handed over a Rs 5 lakh cheque to special guest Major Shivani Narang on behalf of Sheetal Devi during the occasion.
Speaking during the occasion, Rane also narrated the inspirational life story of Sheetal Devi.
Sheetal was born with a rare disease called phocomelia in Loidhar village of Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir. With indomitable courage and the spirit to do something, Sheetal became Asia's only para archer. She received the Arjuna Award from the President of India in January this year.
Women Achievers Awards are being organized every year by Atharva Foundation, to honour eminent women who have made a distinct identity in social life with their work.
