PUNJAB NEWS EXPRESS | December 30, 2023 07:23 PM

CHANDIGARH: The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Partap Singh Bajwa on Saturday accused the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government of making false promises to industrialists and entrepreneurs of the state.

"In 2023, the AAP government failed terribly to safeguard the interests of the business community. Consequently, the business community seems to have been reluctant to set up businesses in the state. The deteriorated law and order situation in the state has caused one of the biggest threats to the industrialists and traders in the state", Bajwa added.

Senior Congress Leader Bajwa said that a couple of weeks ago, Ludhiana-based industrialist Sambhav Jain was under attack from the gangsters. He received a serious bullet injury. The business community has gotten fed up with repeated extortion calls drom the gangsters.

"The focal points, where small and medium scale industry is to be set up, have been in shamble. The AAP government has remained unsuccessful in even providing the basic amenities at the focal points", Bajwa added.

The opposition leader said that industrialists and entrepreneurs often complain about road and rail closures by the protests organised by the unemployed youth, irregular employees and farmers' unions. The CM Bhagwant Mann government had remained unsuccessful in redressing some genuine demands of these groups, which gives the impression that Punjab is not an appropriate state to establish business or industry.

"Due to such an indifferent attitude of the AAP government, the industrialists are forced to migrate to the other states including Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh", Bajwa added.
