CHANDIGARH: The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Partap Singh Bajwa, on Tuesday launched a scathing attack at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for squandering Punjab's taxpayers' money on advertisements in several media outlets disseminating deceitful information about the government's performance.
"Undoubtedly, the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government has completed three years of its term. However, the AAP's term would be remembered as failed governance, non-performance, and hollow promises. It seems so ridiculous now that the AAP government has been spreading misinformation through advertisements, " Bajwa added.
Senior Congress Leader Bajwa said that in these advertisements, the government can be seen boasting about its failed crusade against drugs. Every single Punjabi knows that the AAP remained inefficient in curbing the drug menace. The government failed miserably to meet several deadlines to make Punjab a drug-free state. Meanwhile, the Punjab Police under the AAP government is only bulldozing the houses of small-time drug peddlers.
"The Law and Order has already deteriorated. The cases of organised crimes have been on the rise ever since the AAP assumed power. Replicating Delhi's health model in Punjab has also proven to be a futile exercise. Instead of recruiting expert doctors and other medical experts, it just beautified the old building of the community health centres. The AAP's claim of giving a corruption-free administration also looks absurd. During his Punjab visit, the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal himself admitted that drugs and corruption are the biggest issues in Punjab, " Bajwa stated.
In a statement, Bajwa said that despite, several reminders, the AAP failed to provide the data of those youngsters, who got recruited for government jobs. Still, the AAP doesn't shy away from lying in the advertisements. The government's assertion of securing thousands of crores of investment is also a piece of misleading information as everyone knows that Punjabi corporates and entrepreneurs in the AAP regime were forced to migrate to states like UP.
"The AAP government reneged from its promises made to the farmers too. Despite the promise, the Moong crop was not procured at the MSP. Flood-affected farmers were not provided with the compensation. Instead of listening to the farmers' woes, CM Mann exhibited highly arrogant behavior, " said Bajwa.
