10 trade unions support UP power employees against privatisation

CHANDIGARH: In a show of solidarity with the Vidyut Karamchari Samyukta Sangharsh Samiti ten major trade unions passed a resolution against the proposed privatisation of two electricity distribution companies in Uttar Pradesh, at the National Convention of Workers held at New Delhi. Power Sector Employees from central, state and private sectors from all segments of electricity - generation, transmission, distribution, participated in the Convention.

Shailendra Dubey convener said that the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) has passed a resolution openly supporting the struggle of electricity employees and engineers of Uttar Pradesh and decided that electricity employees and engineers from all the states of the country will participate in large numbers in the rally being held in Lucknow on April 9 in protest against privatization.

V K Gupta informed that the power sector employees and engineers across India will go on a nationwide strike on June 26, 2025, in protest against the privatisation of state-run electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs). The decision was reaffirmed at the Southern Regional Meeting of the NCCOEEE .

MP Arora has sought the Minister’s immediate intervention to expedite the appointment process.

It may be mentioned here that MP Arora personally handed over this letter to the Minister.

The Minister assured MP Arora to consider his request on priority basis.
